From application to payment: making financial support simpler
Student support teams continue to face the challenge of doing more with less.
Conversations with NASMA members have helped us understand where some of those pressures lie. One area that came through clearly was the administration involved in managing financial support applications – and the opportunity to create a simpler, more joined-up process.
In response and with input from four universities, we’ve developed the new Aspire Applications Module, helping university teams manage the journey from student application through to payment more simply and efficiently.
Aspire Applications gives you the flexibility to build and manage your own applications while keeping the information, evidence and communication associated with each application together.
Key features include:
- Build & manage your own applications
- Single Sign-On & integrations with your student record system
- Manage all of your applications with features such as
-
- All messaging in 1 platform
- Track deadlines against SLAs
- On demand reporting & dashboards
- Make one-click payments through Aspire that are delivered within minutes and without the need to collect bank details – removing the need for separate bulk uploads.
The module enables institutions to manage applications alongside the delivery of financial support within Aspire, helping to simplify administration, strengthen control and create a more joined-up experience for both university teams and students.
Early adopters are already using the module, Natalie Walker (Funding Manager, University of Essex) says, “The portal itself is modern, intuitive, and easy to navigate, making it straightforward for users to learn and use effectively. I have been really impressed by the range of services available through AAM and the efficiencies it will bring to our team. The team have responded really well to the new system, and we are looking forward to fully adopting it going forward.”
Aspire continues to be a platform designed for universities, by universities. Thank you to everyone who has fed their ideas into the development of the Aspire Applications Module. Knowing what you want, means that we can build exactly what you need.

And there’s more to come…
The Applications module is just one of several developments shaped by conversations with the sector.
We’ve also been working on new ways to support student financial education with Save the Student, alongside continued innovation in payments and the wider Aspire service. We’ll be bringing all of this together in an upcoming NASMA webinar, where we’ll be joined by Aspire Applications pilot users, as well as Tom Allingham from Save the Student, to share what we’ve been developing and why.
Most importantly, we want to continue listening. What else would help you do more with less? What challenges should we be thinking about – and developing for – next? We’ll be sharing details of the webinar soon. We’d love you to join us, share your experiences, and help shape what comes next.
