2008 NASMA ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2008Dear NASMA Member Its that time of year when conference bookings are open: time to let your hair down, network with colleagues and old friends and, most importantly, engage with the training on offer! Taking on board feedback received after Conference 2007, we are pleased to announce that our 2008 conference will be held at the Park Inn, North Street, York (www.york.parkinn.co.uk) from Monday 30 June Wednesday 2 July 2008. We have put together an exciting conference programme, with a greater number of sessions and more subject options than has been offered in previous years. Additionally there are longer sessions throughout conference, as well as sessions running after lunch on the Wednesday. As you will see on the workshop information document, we have introduced strands for managers, debt, benefits, and skills, as well as a selection of sessions relevant to the many and varied roles performed by NASMA members. We felt that taking this approach provides greater value for money on the training you can access as part of the annual conference, and feel that there is truly something for everyone! Complimenting the variety and depth of training sessions, we have also put together an attractive entertainments package for you. Following a Four Corners of the World buffet dinner on the Monday evening, we have booked a special river cruise aboard YorkBoat, giving you chance to relax and take in the changing scenery along the River Ouse. Your free time on the Tuesday afternoon remains, allowing you time to check out some of the many visitor attractions in York, relax in a beer garden, or do some shopping. As the Ghost Walk was very popular last year, we have arranged for this to take place on the Tuesday afternoon, allowing those of you that are interested to take in some of the history of York, and maybe visit a couple of haunted bars! On the Tuesday evening, as is traditional, we have the conference dinner, which this year (based on feedback from 2007) we have arranged as a buffet, to meet the needs of the diverse tastes of NASMA members. This will then be followed by a disco, with bar until 1am. The conference plan is attached, and is also available on the NASMA website (www.nasma.org.uk). Clicking on the cells on the overview sheet will link you through to session facilitator details alongside descriptions for the sessions, clicking the arrow will then return you to the overview. We hope you agree that this year the conference plan looks very stimulating. Based on the number of enquiries we are already receiving about the conference, we are releasing the information earlier than in the past, and we expect that places will fill quickly. Conference bookings will close on Friday 6 June 2008. For the benefit of clear information and administration purposes a reserve list may be implemented during the week commencing Monday 9 June. This will be at the discretion of the Chairperson and Training Officer.
